Hyderabad: Reigning national champion Nikhat Zareen met Telangana Government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir at his residence on Friday, days after winning national boxing gold at the 2026 National Boxing Championships.
After a dominant 5-0 victory in the finals, Nikhat Zareen reaffirmed her status among India’s elite boxers. On the occasion, Shabbir Ali congratulated her and described the win as a strong and promising start to the year. Moreover, he said her discipline and dedication continued to inspire young athletes across the country.
In addition, Shabbir Ali extended his best wishes for her upcoming international assignments, including the Asian Games, World Championships and her Olympic journey. He expressed confidence that she would continue to bring laurels to India and Telangana on the global stage.

National boxing gold reinforces Nikhat Zareen’s elite status
During the interaction, Nikhat Zareen presented Shabbir Ali with a jacket from the 2025 World Boxing Championship held in Liverpool. She also thanked him for his continued encouragement and support throughout her career.
Meanwhile, Zareen expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Shabbir Ali for facilitating her appointment as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Telangana Police. According to her, the posting marked a proud moment for her family and added motivation to excel further.
“I am thankful to the Telangana Government for recognising my achievements and giving me the opportunity to serve as a DSP,” she said. As a result, she added, the support has strengthened her resolve to perform better for the country.
Highlighting government initiatives, Shabbir Ali reiterated Telangana’s commitment to promoting sports. He noted that the state consistently honours athletes who bring national and international recognition. For instance, Nikhat Zareen and Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj were nominated for DSP posts under this policy.
Furthermore, he stated that the government continues to invest in sports infrastructure, training facilities and welfare schemes to ensure the holistic development of athletes across Telangana.
