Hyderabad: North Zone Police detected two major servant theft cases and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth about ₹31 lakh, leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
Police said the cases belonged to Karkhana and Bollarum police stations. In both cases, domestic workers exploited the trust of homeowners and committed thefts over time.
In the first case, Karkhana Police registered a complaint from jewellery businessman Gajawada Sridhar, 52, a resident of Bowenpally. He reported that gold ornaments and gold biscuits had gone missing from his house over a period of time.
Based on suspicion, police examined his maid servant and her husband. During the investigation, officers found that the accused had committed repeated thefts of gold ornaments and gold biscuits from the house. They also melted part of the stolen gold to make ornaments for personal use.
Police arrested Uragadda Madhavi, 35, a maid servant, and her husband Uragadda Krishnaiah, 40, a driver, on December 15, 2025. The accused confessed to the offence and led police to the recovery of stolen gold ornaments and melted gold pieces weighing 24.2 tulas. Police produced both accused before court and remanded them to judicial custody.
Bollarum case adds to North Zone servant theft recovery
In the second case, Bollarum Police received a complaint on December 13, 2025, from Yellu Sujatha, 53, a housewife living on Doveton Road. She reported that gold and silver ornaments kept in her almirah were missing.
The complainant told police that she had employed a maid servant in July 2025. Before travelling, she checked her valuables and noticed the missing ornaments. She suspected the maid and sought legal action.
Police registered a case and examined the accused during the investigation. Officers recovered one gold necklace weighing 5.1 tulas, a melted gold piece weighing 2 tulas, and silver articles weighing 61 tulas from the accused.
Police identified the accused as Jajala Sindhu alias Chinnari. Officials said the successful recovery strengthened the case and helped return the property to the complainant.
Senior officers said dedicated teams from both police stations cracked the cases through sustained investigation and coordination. The operations were carried out under the supervision of North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police S Rashmi Perumal.
Police issued a public advisory and urged citizens to verify the background of domestic servants before employment. They also advised residents to keep valuables securely locked and report suspicious activity immediately to Dial-100.
