Hyderabad: Alert petrol bunk staff prevented a major accident after an Omnivan caught fire near Annojiguda on the Ghatkesar–Uppal road on Tuesday.
The Omnivan was travelling from Ghatkesar towards Uppal when a gas cylinder inside the vehicle exploded. Flames spread quickly, forcing the passengers to jump out and run to safety.
The driver did not apply the hand brake. As a result, the burning Omnivan rolled forward and crashed into a nearby petrol bunk. The incident triggered panic among motorists and local residents.
Omnivan fire near Ghatkesar sparks panic at fuel station
Seeing the flames, petrol bunk staff acted without delay. They used fire extinguishers and brought the blaze under control. Their quick response stopped the fire from reaching fuel storage units.
Due to the Omnivan fire, several motorists stopped their vehicles on the road. Local residents also ran away in fear. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
