Owaisi Manusmriti ideology allegation raised by Hyderabad DCC chief

Hyderabad: The Owaisi Manusmriti ideology allegation was raised by Hyderabad District Congress Committee president Syed Khalid Saifullah, who accused the Owaisi brothers of following an exclusionary political approach.

He made the remarks during an Ambedkar Jayanti programme at Narsing Nagar in Uppuguda. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee organised the event. Party leaders, workers and local residents attended in large numbers.

Saifullah said the Owaisi Manusmriti ideology opposed the principles of equality, justice and fraternity. He noted that Dr B R Ambedkar dedicated his life to securing equal rights and dignity. Therefore, he argued that any system concentrating power in a few hands contradicts the Constitution.

He also referred to a past statement attributed to late AIMIM leader Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi. According to Saifullah, the remark suggested that political power remained within a single family. Thus, he said it reflected a pattern of concentrated authority.

Owaisi Manusmriti ideology claim targets political continuity

Saifullah alleged that Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi continued the same approach. He said they projected confidence of electoral dominance. As a result, he claimed this messaging limited broader political participation.

He added that such a pattern reflected Owaisi Manusmriti ideology. According to him, this framework restricts authority to a select group. However, he said Ambedkar consistently opposed such hierarchical systems.

Saifullah said Ambedkar’s struggle addressed all forms of inequality. He explained that Ambedkar aimed to build a social order based on justice, equality and fraternity. Therefore, he urged people to question exclusionary systems and support democratic politics.

He also said the Congress party stood for inclusive governance. Meanwhile, leaders at the event paid floral tributes to Ambedkar. Participants also read the Preamble to the Constitution collectively.

Speakers highlighted Ambedkar’s role in shaping modern India. They said his ideas remain relevant today. In addition, they stressed the need to protect constitutional values and ensure justice for all sections.

Saifullah recalled the Mahad Satyagraha during his address. He said Ambedkar burned the Manusmriti on December 25, 1927, to protest caste discrimination. He described the act as a direct stand against inequality.

He added that the event took place during the Mahad Conference. Ambedkar led the movement for equal access to public resources such as the Chavadar Tank. He also noted that Gangadhar Neelkanth Sahastrabuddhe moved the resolution to burn the Manusmriti.

Saifullah said Ambedkar Jayanti is not just a remembrance day. Instead, he called it a reminder of constitutional values. Therefore, he urged citizens to uphold those principles and support inclusive politics.
