Hyderabad: BJP MP Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao demanded swift action in the phone tapping case on Monday and called for all accused to be sent to jail without delay.
Speaking while campaigning in Gajwel-Pragnapur Municipality, Rao urged the Special Investigation Team to accelerate the probe. He said the investigation must proceed without political hesitation or selective action.
Referring to a 2014 Assembly statement by then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the BJP MP recalled KCR’s assertion that anyone committing a crime would face jail, even a family member. Rao said the same standard should now apply to the former Chief Minister.
He alleged that the phone tapping case exposed serious abuse of power during the previous regime. Therefore, he said, the SIT must act firmly to uphold the rule of law.
Rao also criticised the Congress government for failing to develop Gajwel. He said political slogans had not translated into economic progress for the constituency.
According to him, both Gajwel and Kodangal continued to remain stagnant. He remarked that despite being represented by senior leaders, neither area had witnessed visible development.
Phone tapping case remarks linked to budget and rail projects
Turning to national issues, Rao defended the Union Budget and accused opposition leaders of misleading the public. He said three out of seven high-speed trains sanctioned for South India were allocated to Hyderabad.
Moreover, he pointed to a 15% increase in the railway budget. He added that Telangana received ₹1,300 crore more than in previous years.
Rao criticised BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and B. Kavitha for making contradictory statements on the budget. According to him, their conflicting views reflected confusion within the party.
He said the BJP remained committed to development and accountability. Hence, he urged voters to assess governance outcomes rather than political rhetoric.
