Polavaram Project Authority team inspects construction works

Hyderabad: A Polavaram project inspection was carried out on Tuesday by a team from the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) led by its Chief Executive Officer Yogesh Paitankar to review the progress of ongoing construction works.

The PPA team visited key construction zones at the Polavaram project site and assessed critical components under execution. Officials said the inspection focused on ensuring quality standards, timelines and coordination among various agencies involved in the project.

During the visit, the team inspected the diaphragm wall and the Gap-1 and Gap-2 sections, where major construction activities are currently underway. Engineers briefed the authority members on the technical progress and challenges at these locations.

Water Resources Department Chief Engineer K Narasimhamurthy welcomed the PPA team on their arrival at the project site. Representatives of the construction agency MEIL, including Chief Operating Officer Satish Babu, also received the delegation and participated in the review.

After an initial interaction, the authority members held a detailed meeting with departmental officials and representatives of the construction firm. During the meeting, engineers presented updates on construction milestones, safety measures and resource deployment.

Review of works during Polavaram project inspection

Following the review meeting, the Polavaram project inspection continued with on-site verification of works. The authority team examined construction methods and reviewed compliance with approved designs and schedules.

Officials explained that the inspection aimed to identify bottlenecks and suggest corrective measures to accelerate progress. The team also reviewed coordination between civil works, power-related components and planning divisions.

Along with CEO Yogesh Paitankar, the inspection team included PPA Member Secretary M Raghuram. Chief Engineers C V Subbaiah (Power) and M Ramesh Kumar (Planning and Design) were also part of the delegation.

PPA Director K Shankar accompanied the team during the site visit and participated in technical discussions. Officials said the authority members sought detailed clarifications on construction sequencing and future targets.

The Polavaram project inspection is part of routine oversight by the Project Authority to monitor progress and ensure adherence to technical and administrative guidelines. Officials said such visits help strengthen coordination between the Centre, the State government and executing agencies.

The Polavaram project is considered a critical irrigation and multipurpose project. Authorities said regular inspections would continue until all major components reach completion.
