President Murmu to tour Goa, Karnataka and Jharkhand from December 27 to 30

New Delhi: President of India Droupadi Murmu will visit Goa, Karnataka and Jharkhand from December 27 to 30 as part of a four-day official tour, Rashtrapati Bhavan announced on Thursday.

She will leave for Goa on the evening of December 27, beginning a schedule that includes defence, academic and cultural engagements across three states. Through these visits, the President aims to strengthen outreach with diverse sections of society.

On December 28, President Murmu will travel to Karwar in Karnataka. There, she will undertake a sea sortie in a submarine from Karwar Harbour. This visit will highlight her interaction with Indian Navy personnel stationed at the strategic naval base.

Moreover, officials said the submarine sortie will underline India’s maritime preparedness and the Navy’s operational capabilities. Karwar remains one of the most important naval facilities on the western coast.

On December 29, the President will arrive in Jharkhand and proceed to Jamshedpur. She will grace the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki, the script of the Santhali language, marking a key cultural milestone for tribal communities.

President Murmu visit to include education and cultural programmes

During the President Murmu visit to Jamshedpur, she will also address the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology. The address will focus on education, innovation and the role of youth in nation-building.

Later, on December 30, the President will travel to Gumla district in Jharkhand. She will address the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh – Kartik Jatra, an inter-state cultural congregation.

Through this programme, artists and participants from different regions showcase folk traditions and heritage. Therefore, the President’s participation will reinforce the importance of cultural unity and preservation.

Overall, officials said the four-day tour reflects the President’s commitment to engaging with defence personnel, students and local communities. As a result, the visit is expected to strengthen the Centre’s connection with different regions of the country.
