Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department issued a rain alert for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and forecast rainfall activity across both states for the next three days. Officials said a trough extending from Karnataka through Telangana and Rayalaseema could trigger widespread rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in several districts.
The department predicted thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in Jogulamba Gadwal, erstwhile Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Medak, Khammam and Nizamabad districts. Authorities asked residents to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity and avoid open areas during lightning strikes.
Officials said several parts of Andhra Pradesh were also likely to receive rainfall during the period. North Coastal Andhra, South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions could witness thundershowers at many places over the next few days.

The weather department also forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Rayalaseema. Strong winds could accompany thunderstorms in isolated areas, officials said. Farmers were advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops from possible rain and wind damage.
Meteorological Department officials said the weather system remained active over the region and could continue to influence weather conditions in both states during the next three days.
