Hyderabad: A Hyderabad couple introduced a unique idea at their wedding by replacing traditional wedding gifts with handwritten life lessons and advice from guests.
Rakesh and Reethamshi organised the initiative during their wedding ceremony held on April 29. The couple named the concept “Letter to Our Marriage” and encouraged guests to share personal reflections on relationships and married life.
Inspired by the Telugu film Srinivasa Kalyanam, the couple arranged postcard-style notes at the venue. Guests were invited to write messages that the newlyweds could revisit in the future. The organisers said the idea aimed to create lasting emotional memories rather than focus only on material presents.
The note displayed at the venue requested guests to spend a quiet moment writing meaningful thoughts for the couple’s journey ahead. As a result, many attendees shared personal experiences, values, and guidance related to marriage.
Wedding gifts replaced with handwritten advice
The wedding gifts concept attracted attention because it encouraged emotional participation from guests. Instead of routine wishes, attendees contributed advice and lessons gathered from their own experiences.
The couple said the messages would serve as reminders during different phases of married life. In addition, the handwritten notes created a personal collection of memories connected to the wedding day.
Organisers described the initiative as an effort to highlight deeper values associated with marriage and relationships. They said meaningful celebrations often leave behind memories that extend beyond a single event.
The idea also reflected changing trends among young couples seeking personalised wedding experiences. Guests appreciated the opportunity to contribute thoughts that carried emotional and practical value.
People interested in sharing similar messages and reflections were also invited to send them through WhatsApp. The organisers said the response showed that many people valued emotional connection over formal ceremony traditions.
The initiative has since drawn interest on social media for its simple but thoughtful approach to weddings and relationships.
