Hyderabad: Bapurao joins Jagruthi as former Boath MLA Rathod Bapurao announced his entry into Telangana Jagruthi under Kalvakuntla Kavitha, supporting a new political platform in the state.
Kavitha welcomed him at the organisation’s office in Banjara Hills. She said more leaders from various districts were preparing to join. She added that many activists from the Telangana movement were now seeking an alternative political force.
Bapurao said he had resigned from his job to work for Telangana statehood. He expected better opportunities after its formation. However, he said his political journey faced setbacks later. He recalled serving the Boath constituency and credited Kavitha’s encouragement for his entry into politics.
He said he was elected MLA twice but was denied a ticket for a third term. Later, he joined the Congress but did not receive due importance there. As a result, he decided to shift his political path again.
Bapurao joins Jagruthi as mobilisation plans begin
Bapurao said he would organise a large public meeting in Ichoda after the formal launch of the new party. He added that the event would aim to mobilise supporters and expand the party’s base.
Kavitha said Bapurao had actively contributed to the Telangana movement after leaving his job. She noted that he later became an MLA twice and had earlier entered the BRS through Telangana Jagruthi.
She also recalled organising a week-long medical camp in the undivided Adilabad district in 2006. During the camp, she interacted with local communities and built connections in the region. She said the new political platform would gain strong support there.
Kavitha urged activists to unite again with the same spirit seen during the Telangana movement. She called on people to move away from established parties and support the new initiative for the state’s development.
