Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir denied the Shabbir Ali allegations over an alleged audio clip. He described the recording as fake, doctored, fabricated and politically motivated.
In his clarification to TPCC Disciplinary Action Committee chairman and MP Dr. Mallu Ravi, Shabbir Ali said the controversy originated from an unverified 54-second audio clip circulated on an X handle on June 10, 2026. Moreover, he stated that the clip falsely claimed to contain his conversation with a Congress worker from Kamareddy.
He said some television channels carried reports based on the clip and attributed statements to him that he never made. Therefore, he demanded a scientific forensic examination before anyone reached a conclusion.
Police complaint seeks forensic probe into Shabbir Ali allegations
Shabbir Ali said a Congress functionary had already lodged a police complaint with Kamareddy authorities before the disciplinary committee sought his response. The complaint sought a forensic examination of the recordings and action against those involved in creating or spreading the material.
Furthermore, he claimed the circulation of the clip appeared to be part of a planned campaign to damage his reputation and create divisions within the Congress party. He also alleged that certain political rivals in Kamareddy were behind attempts to weaken his position.
Shabbir Ali said he had known TPCC president Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud for nearly four decades and shared a close relationship with him. He added that he could never make disrespectful remarks against Mahesh Kumar Goud, women leaders or Congress workers.
Recalling his 45-year association with the Congress, Shabbir Ali said his public life remained free from such allegations and that he always respected party discipline. Meanwhile, he announced that he would pursue legal action against those responsible for creating or spreading the alleged fake audio clip.
He urged the disciplinary committee to consider his explanation and the police complaint seeking investigation. He reiterated that the Shabbir Ali allegations were completely false and that he remained committed to the Congress party and its values.
