Shabbir Ali predicts Congress sweep in Kamareddy and Nizamabad civic polls

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday said the party would secure a clear majority in Kamareddy and Nizamabad in the Kamareddy civic polls.

Speaking at a press conference in Kamareddy on the final day of campaigning, Shabbir Ali credited the surge in support to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership. He said people had witnessed visible governance within just two years of the Congress forming the government.

Referring to his campaign, Shabbir Ali said he covered 45 of the 49 municipal wards in Kamareddy over four days. During the outreach, he held meetings in nearly 12 wards every day. According to him, voters consistently demanded a strong and accountable government.

He said people rejected leaders who ruled for 10 years without delivering results. He also claimed that elected representatives vanished after winning polls and ignored public needs. “The mood on the ground is decisive,” he said.

Highlighting governance measures, Shabbir Ali listed the ₹500 LPG cylinder scheme, free RTC bus travel for women, and 200 units of free electricity. He also referred to the restoration of old ration cards. He said Congress achieved in two years what the BRS failed to do in a decade.

Kamareddy civic polls and development claims by Congress

Shabbir Ali said he pushed proposals worth ₹200 crore for Kamareddy’s development. He added that authorities had already sanctioned several works. These included ₹8 crore for an indoor stadium at Indira Gandhi Stadium and underground electricity substations.

He also spoke about expanding Godavari drinking water supply from 4 MLD to 10 MLD by March-end. According to him, inspections were completed and proposals forwarded for CC roads, stormwater drains, and damaged civic assets.

Targeting BJP MLA Ramana Reddy, Shabbir Ali accused him of neglecting Kamareddy. He criticised remarks made during flood-related incidents and questioned the MLA’s commitment to public welfare. He alleged repeated delays in the sanctioned underground substation project.

Shabbir Ali also attacked the BRS for misleading people for 10 years and failing to provide government jobs to Telangana youth. Based on internal feedback, he predicted that Congress would win 32 to 35 wards and form the municipality on its own.

Thanking voters for maintaining peace during campaigning, he urged them to reject divisive politics. He said the Congress campaign rested on trust, governance, and vision, and appealed for support to develop Kamareddy as a model town.
