Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy on Monday directed election officials to clear SIR-2026 pending cases within the prescribed timelines. He reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision through a video conference.
Additional CEO Vasam Venkateswar Reddy and Deputy CEO G.S. Chary also took part in the review. The meeting was attended by the GHMC Commissioner, Hyderabad District Election Officer, all District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
Sudarshan Reddy asked officials to speed up the disposal of cases under the Anomalies and No-Mapping categories. He also appreciated the progress reported by the EROs and DEOs during the review.
BLO Supervisors, Booth Level Officers and AEROs were told to meet their daily targets. They were also instructed to complete their assigned work within the stipulated period.
Officials were directed to dispose of pending Forms 6, 7 and 8 without delay. They were also asked to clear enquiry and hearing cases while giving electors enough time to submit the required supporting documents.
The CEO instructed BLO Supervisors and BLOs to familiarise themselves with the indicative list of documents. They were asked to explain the documentation requirements clearly to electors during the process.
Officials told to follow due process in SIR cases
Sudarshan Reddy clarified that Booth Level Agents should not serve notices to electors. Their role should remain limited to assisting BLOs in identifying houses, he said.
He directed officials to clear SIR-2026 pending cases at the ERO level without unnecessary delay. Additional staff, including computer operators, could be deployed wherever required to speed up the process.
At the same time, AEROs, EROs and BLO Supervisors were instructed to properly supervise the work carried out by additional personnel. Officials were also told to regularly display Forms 6, 7 and 8 and other relevant information on notice boards.
The information displayed on notice boards was also to be shared with political parties. The instructions were aimed at ensuring greater transparency in the handling of the revision process.
Where applicable, a family member could submit documents on behalf of another member of the family. The CEO also directed officials not to require senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities to attend hearings physically unless necessary.
For cases involving NRIs, documents could be submitted through an authorised proxy wherever applicable. Officials were asked to ensure that these provisions were followed while processing the cases.
Sudarshan Reddy also stressed the need for special attention to cases identified as ineligible. Officials were instructed to issue appropriate speaking orders only after following the prescribed process.
During the review, the CEO examined district-wise hearing schedules and cases awaiting final publication against generated notices. He also reviewed pending Forms 6, 7 and 8 in the ERO and DEO logins.
Officials were finally directed to complete all remaining SIR-2026 pending cases and related processes within the prescribed timelines.
