Hapur: A highway fog accident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district early Monday after dense fog reduced visibility on a national highway, leading to a collision involving at least six vehicles.
Police said the incident took place near Anwarpur village when poor visibility due to thick fog prevented drivers from spotting vehicles ahead in time. As a result, multiple vehicles rammed into each other in quick succession, causing traffic to come to a standstill on the highway.
Several passengers sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency responders rushed the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said the condition of some injured persons remained critical, while further details were awaited.

With winter setting in, fog conditions have intensified across northern India, especially during early morning hours. Authorities said reduced visibility during this period poses serious risks to motorists, particularly on high-speed highways.
Following the accident, police and rescue teams reached the spot and cleared damaged vehicles to restore traffic movement. Officials urged drivers to travel at reduced speeds, maintain safe distance, and exercise extreme caution while driving in foggy conditions.
