Special Campaign 6.0 set to begin after DoHE reviews 95% of files

New Delhi: The Department of Higher Education announced plans for Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026. The drive will target pending matters, cleanliness and record management across offices and higher education institutions.

The Department of Higher Education, under the Union Ministry of Education, had reviewed 95.2% of physical files under Special Campaign 5.0. This covered 2,04,859 physical files.

It had also reviewed 87.46% of e-files, covering 62,564 electronic records. Around 1,159 sites across the country took part in the campaign.

The earlier campaign helped reduce pendency and improve the management of official records. It also freed 14,44,839 sq. ft. of office space across participating locations.

In addition, the department generated ₹6.89 crore through the disposal of scrap. It also digitised more than 3,312 files during the campaign.

Officials further weeded out or closed 90,629 physical and electronic files. These steps supported efforts to reduce the accumulation of old records and pending work.

The department will now take part in Special Campaign 6.0 across its offices and autonomous organisations. Centrally funded higher education institutions will also participate in the drive.

The campaign will seek to reduce pending matters in offices and centrally funded higher education institutions. It will also focus on cleaner government workplaces and better use of office space.

The department will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 in two phases. The Preparatory Phase will run from September 15 to 30, 2026.

The Implementation Phase will follow from October 2 to 31, 2026. During the preparatory period, participating institutions will set targets and identify pending references.

Special Campaign 6.0 expands focus to e-waste

Heads and faculties of centrally funded institutions will identify key areas for cleanliness and space management. The UGC, AICTE and DoHE bureaus will also prepare specific targets.

Meanwhile, officials will give special attention to record management and the disposal of outdated materials. They will also identify opportunities to improve and beautify office spaces.

The campaign will build on last year’s focus on scientific e-waste management. This year, Special Campaign 6.0 will stress the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.

During the Implementation Phase, offices will focus on clearing several categories of pending matters. These will include public grievances, parliamentary assurances and inter-ministerial communications.

VVIP references will also form part of the pending matters targeted during the campaign. Participating offices will report their progress every day.

The campaign will also promote sustainability and greater public participation. Officials will use social media to increase public engagement through the hashtag #SpecialCampaign6.

Separately, the Department of Higher Education had conducted a Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters from November 2025 to August 2026.

During that period, officials disposed of 24,126 public grievances. They also disposed of 4,177 public grievance appeals.

The latest campaign will therefore build on earlier efforts to reduce pendency and improve workplace management. At the same time, it will place greater emphasis on e-waste handling, cleanliness and public engagement.

The Department of Higher Education is preparing participating institutions and offices during the preparatory phase. The implementation period will then focus on measurable action and daily progress reporting.
