Hyderabad: The Supreme Court heard the phone tapping case and took note of a status report submitted by the state government on the investigation related to former police official Prabhakar Rao.
During the hearing, government lawyers informed the court that investigators had filed a detailed status report outlining the progress of the probe. They told the bench that Prabhakar Rao was not cooperating with the investigation, which, they said, had slowed the inquiry and required further examination.
The counsel appearing for the state submitted that despite repeated efforts, the investigating agencies were unable to question Prabhakar Rao effectively. As a result, the government sought more time to continue the probe and place additional findings before the court.
Phone tapping case status report highlights probe hurdles
According to the submissions, the status report explained the steps taken so far in the phone tapping case and the challenges faced by the investigators. The government lawyers stressed that non-cooperation by Prabhakar Rao remained a key obstacle in completing the inquiry.
The Supreme Court took the submissions on record and continued to hear arguments related to the scope and direction of the investigation. Further proceedings in the phone tapping case are expected as the court examines the status report and responses from the parties involved.
