Telangana Panchayat elections record 56.71% polling by 11 am

Hyderabad: Telangana Panchayat Elections recorded 56.71 percent polling by 11 am during the second phase of voting, election officials said on Sunday, indicating steady participation across rural areas of the state.

Officials said polling was progressing smoothly at village-level polling stations, with voters turning out in large numbers since morning hours. They added that no major disruptions were reported from any district during the early hours of voting. Security arrangements were in place, and polling personnel were closely monitoring the process.

According to data released by district election authorities, voter turnout crossed the 50 percent mark in most districts well before noon. Officials attributed the steady turnout to heightened awareness among rural voters and favourable weather conditions in several regions.

Polling for the second phase of the Telangana Panchayat Elections began in the morning and continued under tight supervision. Authorities said polling staff were instructed to strictly follow election guidelines to ensure free and fair voting. Arrangements were also made to assist elderly voters and persons with disabilities at polling stations.

The state election machinery said it would issue updated turnout figures at regular intervals as polling progressed further into the day.

Telangana Panchayat Elections: district-wise turnout figures

District-wise polling figures released by officials showed variations across regions. Rangareddy district recorded 54.33 percent polling by 11 am. Warangal registered a higher turnout at 59.31 percent, reflecting strong voter participation in rural pockets.

Hanumakonda district reported 54.11 percent polling, while Bhadradri Kothagudem saw 57.57 percent turnout. In Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, officials reported 56.51 percent polling during the same period. Suryapet district recorded one of the highest turnouts at 60.07 percent by 11 am.

Election officials said voter turnout was expected to rise further in the afternoon hours, as is typical in rural elections. They said additional polling staff were deployed in sensitive areas to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.

The Telangana Panchayat Elections are seen as significant for grassroots governance, as they determine leadership at the village level. Officials said counting details and further updates would be announced after polling concludes.
