lsoHyderabad: Telangana polling in the third phase proceeded smoothly and peacefully, district collector C Narayana Reddy said on Wednesday after reviewing the election process in the district.
The district conducted polling in seven mandals as part of the third phase of gram panchayat elections. He reviewed voting arrangements and guided officials to ensure an error-free process. At each polling station, officials displayed the lists of contesting sarpanch and ward member candidates, which the collector personally verified.
The collector instructed Stage-2 returning officers to record voter turnout at regular intervals in the prescribed format. He directed presiding officers to verify voter serial numbers in the electoral rolls before permitting voting. To ensure transparency, C Narayana Reddy stressed that officials must avoid even minor mistakes during polling.
Officials had to allow all voters standing in queues within the polling station premises before 1 pm to cast their votes. After 1 pm, staff had to stop entry at the polling station gates without exception.
Telangana polling counting schedule clarified
For the next stage, the collector directed election officials to begin the counting process at 2 pm. He instructed them to conduct counting calmly and accurately a emphasised discipline and asked officials to complete counting without errors and in a peaceful atmosphere. He issued these directions to election staff on duty at the polling centres.
