Hyderabad: TPCC official spokesperson Bandi Sudhakar Goud on Wednesday demanded that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao issue an unconditional apology to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He warned that Congress workers would obstruct KTR’s public movements if he failed to apologise.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Goud described KTR’s remarks as “indecent, irresponsible and derogatory.” He said KTR made personal attacks out of frustration over the BRS party’s political decline. Questioning his remarks, Goud asked how Telangana would have emerged without Sonia Gandhi’s decision to grant statehood. He added that KTR must apologise to restore political decorum.
Goud said the Congress handed over Telangana in 2014 with a surplus budget. However, he alleged that the decade-long BRS rule caused large-scale financial mismanagement. He accused the KCR family of looting public funds and pushing the state into heavy debt.
TPCC demands apology amid allegations on finances and governance
Goud claimed the Congress government was now clearing ₹60,000 crore in unpaid contractor bills left by the previous BRS regime. He said this exposed serious financial misconduct during BRS rule. He also accused the BRS of failing to deliver on the Telangana movement’s core promises of funds, water and jobs, while asserting that Congress was now working to fulfil them.
On the Krishna river water issue, Goud defended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s criticism of the BRS. He ridiculed KTR for avoiding debate in the Assembly and said the BRS chose to walk out instead of facing discussion. “If the BRS had courage, they would have stayed in the House,” he said.
Referring to internal dissent within the BRS, Goud cited recent statements by MLC K. Kavitha. He questioned why the party leadership remained silent when allegations were coming from within the family. He again challenged KTR to respond publicly and issue an apology.
Concluding his remarks, Goud reiterated that KTR must apologise to Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy. He warned that failure to do so would lead to protests and restrictions on KTR’s public engagements.
