Hyderabad: The Chairman of the Telangana State Wakf Board and the Chairperson of the Telangana State Minorities Commission assured a Majlis Bachao Tehreek delegation that the Dargah demolition in Vemulawada would be examined in accordance with law.
The delegation, led by Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman of MBT, met Wakf Board Chairman Sri Azmath Ullah Hussaini and Minorities Commission Chairperson Sri Tareq Ansari and submitted a detailed memorandum. They raised objections over the reported demolition of Dargah Hazrat Tajuddin Khaja Bagh Sawar in Rajanna Sircilla district.
According to the delegation, the Dargah was a notified Wakf property. They stated that its removal had hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. They also pointed out that the structure stood adjacent to Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada.
The leaders argued that the Wakf Board had earlier issued an official communication declaring the Dargah a notified Wakf institution. Therefore, they said, no relocation or alteration could take place without prior approval from the Board. However, the structure was reportedly removed despite this clarification.
Inquiry sought into Dargah demolition in Vemulawada
The MBT delegation urged authorities to conduct a thorough probe into the Dargah demolition. They demanded that officials responsible for the action be identified and held accountable. In addition, they sought appropriate legal measures to protect Wakf properties across Telangana.
They stressed that protection of minority religious institutions remained essential to uphold constitutional safeguards and maintain communal harmony. Furthermore, they warned that such incidents created resentment among minority communities.
In response, both the Wakf Board Chairman and the Minorities Commission Chairperson assured the delegation that they would review the issue seriously. They said the matter would be examined as per legal provisions.
