Waliullah Sameer accuses BJP of fuelling communal tension in Telangana

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mohammed Waliullah Sameer on Friday accused the BJP of attempting to create communal tension in Telangana by exaggerating isolated incidents and organising politically motivated protests.

Sameer alleged that recent incidents involving educational institutions and religious sensitivities formed part of a coordinated attempt to disturb peace. However, he said the police and the authorities had already addressed several of the issues.

He claimed BJP leaders were trying to mobilise protests instead of allowing the police to complete investigations. Moreover, he alleged that local disputes were being projected as communal confrontations for political gain.

Sameer alleged that political workers entered educational institutions, demanded confidential student records and carried out unauthorised inspections. He also claimed that activists assaulted a teacher at another school. According to him, such actions amounted to taking the law into their own hands.

He also referred to a recent classroom assignment controversy. He said the school management acted against the teacher concerned, while the police took precautionary measures. Nevertheless, he alleged that BJP leaders tried to use the issue to provoke religious sentiments.

Communal tension allegations linked to recent protests

Sameer said educational institutions should remain free from political activity. He added that political workers had no authority to inspect schools, intimidate staff or conduct inquiries.

He also said matters relating to citizenship, refugees and documentation fall within the jurisdiction of government authorities. Therefore, political organisations should submit complaints through legal channels instead of conducting vigilante actions.

The Congress leader praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for maintaining law and order. He said the government prevented sensitive situations from escalating into violence.

Furthermore, Sameer alleged that the BJP was attempting to damage the Chief Minister’s image by creating an impression of administrative failure. He claimed the party repeatedly highlighted minor incidents, amplified them on social media and organised protests to create communal tension.

He urged the police to act impartially against anyone involved in trespass, assault, intimidation or the spread of provocative content. Finally, he appealed to people not to believe unverified social media posts or participate in demonstrations intended to disturb communal harmony.
