Azharuddin calls graduate voter registration first test for MLC polls

Hyderabad: Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Friday stressed the importance of graduate enrolment in the upcoming Graduates’ MLC elections. He described MLC voter enrolment as the first crucial test for any party in its electoral preparations. He spoke at a registration drive held at Teachers Colony Park in the Cantonment constituency.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also took part in the drive. Organisers held it in support of Congress candidate Sama Ram Mohan Reddy for the Hyderabad–Rangareddy–Mahabubnagar Graduates’ MLC election. Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh and Secunderabad DCC President Deepak John joined them, along with other Congress leaders and party workers.

Azharuddin said the Congress had fielded a young and educated candidate in Sama Ram Mohan Reddy. In his view, ensuring that eligible graduates are enrolled in the voters’ list is a crucial and commendable initiative. He expressed confidence that an educated and dynamic representative like Sama Ram Mohan Reddy would raise genuine public issues effectively if elected to the Legislative Council. Moreover, he said such a member would represent the aspirations of the people.

Azharuddin urges graduates to enrol and back Congress candidate

The Minister called upon eligible graduates to come forward, complete their voter registration and support the Congress candidate. He said active participation at the registration stage was essential to strengthening the party’s prospects in the election. Therefore, he urged graduates not to wait for the polling stage to engage with the process.

Azharuddin said the success of any party in the Graduates’ MLC elections begins with how well it enrols eligible voters. For this reason, MLC voter enrolment remained the first step in the Congress campaign, he said.
