Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy said he reviewed ongoing Telangana railway projects with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and sought faster execution of key works across the State.
Speaking to reporters at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy said he requested the Railway Minister to expedite modernisation works at 42 railway stations in Telangana. He said these stations were being upgraded with modern passenger amenities and should be completed without delay.
The Minister said construction of the Komuravelli Mallanna railway station had reached about 95 per cent completion. He added that both Ministers agreed to finish the remaining works at the earliest and dedicate the station to devotees soon.
Kishan Reddy also said he discussed the proposed MMTS Phase 2 network between Hyderabad and Yadagirigutta. He said the project, estimated at ₹400 crore, was important to improve suburban rail connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters and pilgrims.
Telangana railway projects and political remarks in Delhi
Apart from infrastructure issues, the Union Minister criticised comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally held in Delhi on Sunday. He said Gandhi’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the so-called vote theft rally amounted to an insult to the people of the country.
Kishan Reddy said it was unfortunate that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha spoke without understanding the dignity of the position. According to him, such statements reflected a lack of responsibility expected from a national leader.
He added that the Central Government remained committed to strengthening Telangana railway projects, including station redevelopment and suburban rail expansion. He said coordinated efforts between the Centre and Railways would help deliver better connectivity and passenger facilities in the State.
