Amit Shah to address National Cooperative Conference in Panchkula

Panchkula: Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah will address the National Cooperative Conference organised by Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) in Panchkula, Haryana, on December 24, officials said.

KRIBHCO is hosting the conference at the Indradhanush Auditorium under the theme Prosperity through Cooperation – Role of Cooperatives in Sustainable Agriculture. The event aims to shape policy and implementation strategies for strengthening cooperative-led agriculture across the country.

Organisers said the conference will focus on expanding the role of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies. Discussions will also examine income stability for small and marginal farmers. In addition, participants will deliberate on climate change challenges facing cooperative-based agricultural models.

The conference aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Prosperity through Cooperation.” Under Amit Shah’s leadership, the Ministry of Cooperation has pursued reforms to strengthen cooperatives at the grassroots level and improve farmer livelihoods.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will attend the conference as a special guest. Union Ministers of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar and Murlidhar Mohol will also participate. Haryana Cooperation Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana are scheduled to attend.

National Cooperative Conference to feature inaugurations and policy dialogue

During the National Cooperative Conference, the Union minister will e-inaugurate a Milk Cooling Centre at Salempur in Bhiwani district. He will also inaugurate the HAFED Atta Mill at Jatusana in Rewari district.

On the same occasion, Amit Shah will distribute RuPay Platinum Debit Cards to beneficiaries of cooperative banks in Haryana. He will also hand over registration certificates to presidents of newly established Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies formed by Haryana KRIBHCO.

The Union minister will also launch a dedicated portal showcasing activities undertaken during the International Year of Cooperatives. The portal will highlight initiatives aimed at expanding cooperative outreach and participation.

Organisers said the conference will promote the exchange of advanced agricultural knowledge. Sessions will focus on affordable credit, adoption of modern technologies and organic farming practices. Climate-resilient agriculture through cooperative platforms will receive special emphasis.

Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Cooperation, KRIBHCO and the Government of Haryana will take part in the deliberations. Representatives from national and state-level cooperative institutions, PACS, farmer organisations and other stakeholders will also attend.

KRIBHCO has supported millions of farmers through fertiliser supply, advisory services and farmer-centric initiatives over the years. Organisers said the Panchkula conference would give fresh momentum to the cooperative movement during the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
