KTR accuses Congress of betraying Telangana water rights

Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of betraying Telangana water rights and said his party would confront the issue at every platform.

Responding to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks, KTR posted a sharp reaction on social media platform X on Wednesday. According to him, the Chief Minister failed to protect the State’s water interests.

Instead of safeguarding Telangana’s rights, KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy focused on political rhetoric. He said making promises and withdrawing later had become habitual for the Chief Minister.

Moreover, KTR asserted that the Congress government would face a decisive defeat in the 2028 Assembly elections. He claimed the party had no political future in Telangana for decades.

Despite the language used by the Chief Minister, KTR said BRS would continue its fight for Telangana water rights. He added that the party would never compromise on the State’s core interests.

In contrast, he alleged that the Chief Minister had caused injustice even to his own district in the PalamuruRangareddy project matter. Therefore, KTR said the government avoided answering questions on water-sharing compromises.

Calling the remarks unbecoming, KTR said the Chief Minister crossed limits of decorum. He further alleged that the government attempted to divert public attention from its failures, although such efforts would not last long.

KTR blames Congress for agrarian distress

Meanwhile, KTR also accused the Congress government of pushing the agriculture sector into crisis. In a separate statement, he described the death of a farmer at a procurement centre as deeply tragic.

According to KTR, a farmer named Jammanna collapsed and died of a heart attack at a maize procurement centre. The incident occurred at Kalukuntla village in Manavapadu mandal of Gadwal district.

Furthermore, KTR alleged that the farmer waited for four days without crop procurement. Therefore, he said the Congress government bore full responsibility for the incident.

Demanding immediate relief, KTR urged the government to provide ₹25 lakh compensation to Jammanna’s family. He added that procurement delays reflected serious administrative failure.

Additionally, KTR alleged that government negligence had cost a farmer his life. He said such incidents exposed the Congress government’s indifference towards the farming community.

Finally, KTR reiterated that BRS would continue to raise issues affecting farmers and Telangana water rights. He said the party would hold the government accountable both inside and outside the Assembly.
