Hyderabad: Police said actress Rakul Preet Singh’s brother Amanpreet Singh went into hiding in the Masab Tank drug case, prompting special teams to launch a manhunt to trace him.
According to police sources, Hyderabad police, along with the Eagle Team and Masab Tank police, began coordinated search operations after Amanpreet failed to respond to notices. Officers said they intensified efforts following inputs about his alleged role in the case.
The development followed the arrest of two businessmen from Troop Bazaar on December 17. Police identified them as Nitin Singhania and Shrenik Singhvi. During questioning, investigators found evidence linking Amanpreet to the accused.
Masab Tank drug case probe widens after arrests
Police said the arrested traders admitted to supplying cocaine and MDMA. Investigators determined that Amanpreet had allegedly purchased drugs from them. During the operation, police seized a total of 43 grams of cocaine and MDMA from the accused.
Officials also confirmed that Cyberabad police had arrested Amanpreet last year in a separate drug-related case. Meanwhile, investigators identified four more individuals involved in supplying drugs to Singhania and Singhvi.
Police said they were continuing efforts to identify the entire network involved in the racket. Officers added that special teams were working to arrest Amanpreet at the earliest.
