Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha was scheduled to attend the Legislative Council on Monday to seek Kavitha resignation acceptance during the proceedings, sources said.
Ahead of the session, Kavitha met Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and requested an opportunity to speak in the House. Sources said the Chairman was likely to allow her to address the Council during the day’s sitting.
Kavitha resigned from her MLC position on September 3 last year after securing the seat under the BRS quota. However, officials said the Chairman has not yet conveyed formal acceptance of her resignation.
The issue has remained pending for several months, drawing attention within political circles. Observers said the prolonged delay had raised questions over the process.
Kavitha resignation acceptance likely to be raised in House
During her proposed address, Kavitha is expected to formally urge the Council to accept her resignation. She plans to place her request on official record during the proceedings.
Sources said the move was aimed at bringing procedural clarity to the matter. It would also allow the House to note her position directly.
Political circles are closely watching whether the Chairman will take a decision on Kavitha resignation acceptance during the session. The development is expected to have implications for the BRS’s legislative strategy.
Officials said the Council’s response would determine the next steps in the matter. Meanwhile, the proceedings were expected to continue amid keen interest from party leaders and observers.
