GHMC launched special drive to remove illegal advertisements

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation launched a special drive to identify and remove GHMC illegal advertisements across the city following the merger of several municipalities into its limits, Commissioner R.V. Karnan said on Saturday.

The Commissioner said officials noticed a large number of unauthorised advertisements in different parts of the city after the expansion of GHMC jurisdiction. Therefore, the civic body initiated the drive to enforce municipal rules and restore order in public spaces.

As part of the ongoing operation, GHMC teams have already removed several illegal hoardings, banners and other unauthorised advertising structures. According to officials, these advertisements violated municipal regulations and posed risks to public safety.

GHMC illegal advertisements drive to continue in phases

Commissioner Karnan said GHMC would continue the drive in a phased and sustained manner across all areas under its jurisdiction. He added that the initiative also focused on public safety and city beautification, apart from regulatory enforcement.

To strengthen monitoring and enforcement, GHMC constituted a dedicated enforcement team to oversee unauthorised advertisements. The Commissioner warned that the civic body would take strict action against those violating the rules.

He urged advertisers, advertising agencies and building owners to strictly follow municipal norms. He said they must obtain all required permissions before erecting any structures or installing advertisements within GHMC limits.
