CBN busts MD manufacturing lab in Madhya Pradesh, seizes 31.25 kg MD powder

Madhya Pradesh: The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Madhya Pradesh Unit, busted a clandestine MD manufacturing lab and seized a record 31.25 kg of psychotropic MD powder during a major enforcement operation under the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.

Acting on specific and credible intelligence, CBN officers carried out a coordinated raid at Teerth Nursery and Farms in Amla Agar village. During the operation, officers detained three persons from a double-storeyed farmhouse located about 3.5 km from the main road. Officials said the isolated location indicated a deliberate attempt to conceal illegal drug manufacturing activities.

A detailed search of the premises led to the recovery of 31.25 kg of MD powder stored in a bag inside the house. During questioning, the accused admitted that they had manufactured the psychotropic substance illegally at the same location.

MD manufacturing lab uncovered inside nursery premises

Based on the disclosures, CBN officers searched the nursery premises and uncovered a fully functional illicit MD manufacturing lab operating inside one of the rooms. The team recovered utensils, halogen bulbs and machinery used for synthesising MD powder.

Meanwhile, officers also searched a Mahindra Bolero Pickup parked near the entrance of the property. As a result, they seized around 600 kg of chemicals used for MD production. Officials said the accused had stocked enough chemicals, barring one precursor, to manufacture nearly 250–300 kg of MD powder, posing a serious threat to public safety.

CBN seized all contraband, chemicals and equipment under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. The vehicle used for trafficking was also taken into custody. Subsequently, officers arrested all three accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, while further investigation is underway to trace the wider manufacturing and trafficking network.

The Central Bureau of Narcotics reiterated its commitment to dismantling narcotics networks across the country. Officials said the agency would continue intelligence-driven operations to curb illicit drug manufacturing and trafficking in line with the national objective of a drug-free India.
