Etela Rajender demands government accountability for land issues in Telangana

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender on Monday demanded that the Telangana government take full responsibility for land issues and warned that continued inaction could lead to fresh land struggles.

Speaking as the chief guest at a round-table meeting on resolving disputes linked to the Dharani and Bhubharati systems, Rajender said the formation of Telangana aimed to secure justice for farmers. However, he questioned why nearly 70 lakh farmers still faced unresolved land-related problems years after statehood.

Moreover, Rajender alleged that authorities had taken Dalit lands on a large scale. He said the government must take a clear and firm policy decision. Otherwise, he warned, land agitations would follow.

He further said such struggles were not new to Telangana. Instead, he pointed out that people had fought similar battles in the past. According to him, the present situation reflected administrative failure and lack of political will.

Meanwhile, speakers at the round-table meeting said the government should accept responsibility for problems created by flawed land administration systems. They added that confusion over land records continued to trouble farmers across districts.

Therefore, participants stressed the need for transparent reforms and legal safeguards. They said only decisive government action could prevent unrest and restore confidence among farmers.
