India begin training in Dubai ahead of Asia Cup 2025

Hyderabad: The Indian cricket team began preparations for the Asia Cup 2025 on Friday with its first training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav is leading the squad as it targets its second T20 title in the eight-nation tournament. The competition begins on September 9.

A video shared by ESPN Cricinfo showed Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, batter Tilak Varma, bowling coach Morne Morkel, spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, and Rinku Singh arriving for practice. Jasprit Bumrah and Samson were also seen in discussion during training.

Asia Cup 2025 marks India’s first major T20 outing after long break

This will be India’s first major tournament since the Test series against England. After nearly a month’s break, the squad regrouped without a domestic preparatory camp. Instead, the team management opted for an early arrival in Dubai to acclimatize to conditions.

The Asia Cup 2025 represents India’s first significant assignment in the T20 format this year, with the team looking to settle combinations before the global cricket calendar intensifies.
