Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Congress rule Telangana would continue for at least eight more years, citing recent electoral victories and rising public support.
He made the statement in Kodad after casting his vote with his wife and MLA N. Padmavathy Reddy. According to him, the party’s next Assembly victory was assured. With that mandate, he added, the government would work to transform Telangana into one of the country’s top-performing states.
According to Uttam, Congress rule Telangana gathered strength after the December 2023 Assembly elections. Moreover, he pointed to the party’s performance in the latest Gram Panchayat polls as proof that no opposition posed a serious challenge. In his view, these results reflected sustained public trust.
Congress rule Telangana gains momentum after series of victories
Describing the ongoing municipal elections as a historic milestone, the minister said the results would extend the party’s winning streak. He argued that the current momentum began with the 2023 Assembly win and continued through multiple by-elections and local body polls. Furthermore, he maintained that each contest reinforced the party’s base.
He cited victories in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, MLC elections and parliamentary polls. In addition, he referred to the Jubilee Hills by-election and recent village-level elections. Taken together, he said, these outcomes showed a clear pro-Congress trend across the state.
Based on voter trends, Uttam projected that the party would secure over 90 percent of urban local bodies. He also predicted a near sweep in 123 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. Therefore, he expressed confidence that the municipal results would mirror earlier successes.
Finally, he attributed the party’s popularity to two years of governance focused on development and transparency. He said welfare schemes and administrative reforms further strengthened public confidence in the Congress government.
