New Delhi: Fast Track Special Courts in Gujarat continue to handle rape and POCSO cases across the State. These courts aim to ensure speedy trials in sensitive offences involving women and children.
As per information from the High Court of Gujarat, 54 Fast Track Special Courts are currently functional. Of these, 35 courts operate under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The scheme includes 24 exclusive POCSO (e-POCSO) courts.
Disposal of cases over the last three years
Fast Track Special Courts in Gujarat have maintained steady disposal rates in recent years. In 2023, the courts disposed of 3,493 cases. The number rose to 3,562 cases in 2024. In 2025, they disposed of 3,494 cases.
The district-wise data shows 43 courts dedicated exclusively to POCSO cases. Another 11 courts primarily try rape cases along with POCSO matters.
Surat has four exclusive POCSO courts and two additional FTSCs. The City Civil Court in Ahmedabad has five exclusive POCSO courts and two more FTSCs. Districts such as Ahmedabad (Rural), Anand, Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Mehsana, Rajkot, Sabarkantha, Panchmahals and Vadodara have multiple courts.
Meanwhile, districts including Aravalli, Botad, Bharuch, Chhotaudepur, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Morbi, Navsari, Patan and Porbandar have one exclusive POCSO court each.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal shared this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
The data reflects continued efforts to strengthen mechanisms for timely justice in sexual offence cases.
