PM Modi to inaugurate RBI data centre in Bhubaneswar, witness Air Force Day display in Varanasi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, during a visit to Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Earlier in the day, he will open a garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi and attend the Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 as Chief Guest.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate Arvind Limited’s new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi at around 11 AM. At around 1 PM, he will watch the aerial display at Namo Ghat. He will then travel to Odisha, where he will open the RBI facilities in Bhubaneswar at around 4:45 PM and address the gathering.

The Varanasi facility marks an important step in strengthening India’s textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem and promoting industrial growth in the region. With its focus on modern manufacturing practices, it will create meaningful jobs, particularly for women, and contribute to the region’s economic progress. The inauguration also reflects Uttar Pradesh’s growing role as a destination for industrial investment and manufacturing-led growth.

The unit serves a global customer base, showing how products made in Varanasi will reach markets across the world. As a predominantly women-led initiative, it stands as a powerful symbol of women-led development.

The aerial display at Namo Ghat will mark the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force under the theme “Wings over Ganges”. Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, SU-30MKI and Rafale aircraft will take part, along with transport aircraft. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and the Indian Army will join them to showcase jointness in operations, while the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team will also perform. The display will highlight precision flying, coordination and operational excellence.

RBI data centre holds Uptime Institute Tier IV certification

The RBI’s Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute mark a significant milestone in strengthening the technological foundations of India’s financial system. They aim to meet the Bank’s computing needs and provide a secure, resilient, scalable and future-ready computing ecosystem for the RBI and the wider financial sector.

Four state-of-the-art data centres will host mission-critical Payment and Settlement systems, along with other flagship initiatives. The facility holds Uptime Institute Tier IV certification, the global benchmark for data centre infrastructure, which places it in the highest tier of operational resilience. It ranks among the largest Tier IV-certified facilities in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) sector worldwide.

The data centre will help widen the reach, efficiency and reliability of digital financial services. It will form the secure digital foundation on which India’s increasingly technology-driven financial economy can grow. It will also strengthen the RBI’s unique standing as a leader in digital infrastructure among central banks.

The Cybersecurity Training Institute will boost capability building by offering a dedicated institutional platform for cybersecurity and enterprise-technology training, research and sector-wide capability development. It will focus on cutting-edge technologies relevant to the BFSI sector, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence and other frontier technologies.
