Hyderabad: Ramchandra Rao on municipal results said the BJP improved both its vote share and seat tally in the recent civic polls. He described the outcome as encouraging for the party’s expansion in Telangana.
At a press conference held at the BJP State office on Friday, Ramchandra Rao accused Congress, AIMIM and BRS of coordinating in several municipalities. According to him, these parties worked together to prevent BJP candidates from winning key urban local bodies.
Vote share crosses 20 percent
Despite the alleged coordination among rivals, the BJP recorded notable gains. The party secured divisions in the Karimnagar and Nizamabad municipal corporations. It also opened its account in corporations such as Kothagudem.
In addition, he pointed out that the BJP has a strong chance of capturing chairperson posts in Adilabad and Khanapur municipalities. The performance, he said, signals steady growth in urban pockets.
Previously, the BJP secured around 13 percent vote share in civic polls. This time, however, the party crossed the 20 percent mark, he claimed. Such growth, he added, reflects rising public confidence in the BJP.
No support in hung municipalities
Ramchandra Rao on municipal results also clarified the party’s stand on hung civic bodies. Wherever no party secures a majority, the BJP will sit in the opposition. The party will not extend support to any political formation, he asserted.
Furthermore, he said voters now view the BJP as a credible alternative in Telangana politics. The municipal outcome, therefore, strengthens the party’s position ahead of the Assembly elections.
He also thanked party workers for their campaign efforts. Grassroots cadres played a vital role in expanding the BJP’s presence across municipalities.
Concluding his remarks, he said the BJP will continue to strengthen its organisation. The party will focus on urban governance issues and position itself as a strong alternative to the ruling Congress government.
