The suspects and seized cash were moved to Narayanguda police station. Police began an investigation to track how the notes surfaced.
The demonetisation drive of 2016 banned ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes. Later, ₹2,000 notes were also withdrawn in 2023. Despite this, Hyderabad continues to see cases of demonetise currency circulation.
