Bhatti Vikramarka says caste discrimination is a reality

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said caste discrimination reality remained a fact in India and recalled that he had personally faced caste bias.

He urged Congress leaders to move towards their goals with firm resolve. He said leaders must accept caste discrimination reality and prepare to confront it. If they face bias, they should not allow it to weaken their mission.

Bhatti spoke on Monday at a training camp in Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad district. The camp brought together district Congress presidents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Organisers held the session at Haritha Resort as part of a three-day programme.

He alleged that some political parties wanted society to remain socially and economically divided. In contrast, he said the Congress had worked for decades to fight untouchability and other social evils. He described the party as a responsible national force.

Referring to Rohith Vemula’s death, Bhatti said Rahul Gandhi had visited Hyderabad Central University and met students. He said Rahul Gandhi stood with those who faced discrimination anywhere in the country.

Leaders asked to address caste discrimination reality

Bhatti said Rahul Gandhi viewed untouchability as a social issue that required reform, not political interference. Following that approach, leaders in Karnataka and Telangana were trying to introduce a Rohith Vemula law, he said.

He added that the government was implementing development and welfare schemes as promised before the elections. He recalled Rahul Gandhi’s assurance that resources and wealth would be shared equally after coming to power.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the training would strengthen party leaders. He said participants would understand party ideology and develop leadership qualities.

AICC secretaries Viswanathan and Sachin Sawant attended the camp. Camp coordinator Sachin Rao also participated. Experts trained leaders in leadership skills, grievance redressal, election strategy, social media management and action planning.
