MoEFCC to host Him-CONNECT at WSDS 2026

New Delhi: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will organise the Him-CONNECT event on the sidelines of the World Sustainable Development Summit 2026 in New Delhi from February 25 to 27.

The Ministry will host the platform as part of The Energy and Resources Institute’s summit. It will open the Him-CONNECT event to visitors on February 26 and 27. The initiative aims to connect researchers from the Indian Himalayan Region with start-ups, investors and policymakers.

Officials said the Him-CONNECT event will showcase more than 24 technologies, prototypes, patents and pilot projects. The National Mission on Himalayan Studies has supported these innovations for the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Over 100 start-ups, incubators, investors and policymakers will attend.

Although NMHS has backed several science-based solutions, many require structured pathways for scaling and adoption. Therefore, the platform will help innovators move towards commercial deployment. In addition, it will create opportunities for collaboration and funding.

Him-CONNECT event to showcase 24 Himalayan innovations

The 24 innovators come from leading institutions such as IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Jammu, IIT Ropar and IIT Mandi. CSIR-CRRI and CSIR-IHBT will also participate. Institutions including Central Agricultural University, NIT Silchar, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, SKUAST-K, University of Kashmir, TERI-Guwahati, Kumaon University and G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment will present their work.

Drawing on a decade of NMHS support to over 250 initiatives, the event will feature market-ready solutions. These include eco-friendly road construction, wastewater use for hydroponics, pine needle-based treatment systems and yak milk processing technologies. Moreover, organisers will facilitate pilot deployments and funding linkages.

The Indian Himalayan Region serves as a life support system for millions in upland and downstream areas. It also acts as a climate regulator for much of Asia. Through the Him-CONNECT event, the Ministry aims to align science, finance and policy to promote climate resilience and sustainable development.
