Ghaziabad: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda inaugurated the AI E-ICU Command Centre at Yashoda Medicity in Ghaziabad, marking a major push toward technology-driven critical care services.
The facility integrates artificial intelligence with centralised monitoring systems to improve intensive care management. Moreover, it connects the base command centre with the ICU at MMG District Hospital to enable real-time patient monitoring.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda said AI-enabled healthcare ensures timely intervention, diagnostic precision and continuous monitoring. In critical care settings, swift decisions often determine patient outcomes. Therefore, AI-supported systems generate early alerts and help doctors identify high-risk cases quickly.
He emphasised that the government has prioritised digital innovation in healthcare under the vision of a Digital India. The National Health Policy 2017 laid the foundation for building a comprehensive digital ecosystem. Since then, the Centre has accelerated the adoption of technology across public health services.

The Minister highlighted that over 1.81 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs now operate nationwide. Of these, more than 50,000 centres have secured National Quality Assurance Standards certification. Furthermore, the government aims to achieve 100 percent NQAS certification for all such centres within two years.
He also cited the progress of the eSanjeevani telemedicine platform, which has delivered over 45 crore teleconsultations. Additionally, the U-WIN digital platform has registered more than 11.47 crore beneficiaries to support maternal and child health tracking.
Referring to artificial intelligence initiatives, Nadda mentioned the SAHI portal and the BODH platform. These initiatives promote ethical use and validation of AI-based healthcare solutions. At the same time, AI-enabled handheld X-ray devices have strengthened tuberculosis screening efforts, contributing to a faster decline in TB incidence compared to global averages.
The Minister further noted that Ayushman Bharat has expanded financial protection for nearly 62 crore beneficiaries. According to findings reported in The Lancet, timely initiation of cancer treatment within 90 days of detection has improved under the scheme.
The newly launched command centre aims to standardise treatment protocols, strengthen specialist oversight and improve coordination in district-level critical care. Overall, the initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to accessible, affordable and technology-driven healthcare services.
