KTR seeks probe into KLSR Infratech contracts

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao sought a central investigation into KLSR Infratech contracts, writing to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and raising allegations of irregularities in the allocation of government works in Telangana.

In the letter sent on Friday, KTR expressed concern over the law and order situation in the state. He alleged that government projects were irregularly awarded to KLSR Infratech Private Limited.

The BRS leader claimed the firm functioned as a benami entity linked to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He also alleged that officials tampered with evidence during investigations related to the company.

According to KTR, government authorities informed the Telangana High Court that crucial evidence collected in the case had gone missing. He described the development as alarming and said it raised serious concerns about governance.

He further alleged that investigative agencies faced pressure while handling the matter. According to him, officials were forced to destroy evidence to shield the company from scrutiny.

KTR said such developments weakened public confidence in police and investigative institutions. He also claimed that the government continued awarding projects to the company despite insolvency proceedings.

Officials records cited by the BRS leader indicated that KLSR Infratech contracts worth more than ₹2,500 crore were awarded to the firm.

KLSR Infratech contracts controversy detailed in letter

According to KTR, the projects included irrigation works, drinking water supply schemes, Young India Integrated School projects and major road construction assignments.

He argued that these allocations raised questions about procurement rules, financial eligibility and transparency in the tender process.

In his letter, KTR also referred to what he described as an association between the Chief Minister and the company.

He cited an earlier Income Tax investigation that reportedly found a Toyota Land Cruiser registered in the name of KLSR Infratech.

According to him, the vehicle had been used by Revanth Reddy for a long period.

KTR also mentioned ongoing insolvency proceedings involving the company before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.

He noted that tribunal member Justice Sharad Kumar recused himself from hearing the matter on August 13, 2025, reportedly citing attempts to influence the proceedings.

Missing evidence raises concerns in KLSR Infratech contracts case

KTR further referred to developments in Writ Petition No. 18267 of 2025 before the Telangana High Court.

During the hearing, officials reportedly informed the court that several key documents seized as evidence had gone missing from official custody.

He said the Chief Justice expressed serious concern over the disappearance of those documents.

KTR also mentioned a fire incident at the Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory. He said the episode raised additional concerns about the safety of crucial forensic evidence.

The BRS leader also referred to enforcement actions against AS Met Corp, the company that initiated insolvency proceedings against KLSR Infratech in 2022.

According to him, those actions occurred after the new government assumed office in Telangana in December 2023.

He said the arrest of a 75-year-old cancer patient during those actions triggered humanitarian and legal concerns.

Given these developments, KTR urged the Union government to order a thorough investigation into alleged financial irregularities connected with the contracts.

He specifically requested central agencies to examine the case.

According to him, the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate and Serious Fraud Investigation Office should conduct a comprehensive probe.

KTR said an independent investigation would help safeguard public funds and ensure accountability in governance.
