Telangana launches LPG command centre to track gas supply

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has launched a 24/7 LPG command centre to track gas supply across the state amid concerns over global crude oil constraints and distribution disruptions.

The Civil Supplies Department opened the facility in Hyderabad on Saturday. It uses real-time GPS tracking to monitor LPG transportation, stock levels and district-wise supply.

As a result, officials said the centre acts as the main control point to identify bottlenecks and coordinate corrective action quickly.

Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra supervised the operations. Meanwhile, officials maintained constant contact with district authorities to verify stock availability and monitor logistics.

The state government also directed Oil Marketing Companies to provide access to their fleet GPS tracking systems. Therefore, the department can closely track vehicle movement and respond faster to supply disruptions.

LPG command centre integrates oil firms and helpline

Representatives from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are posted at the LPG command centre on a rotational basis.

In addition, police personnel, industries department officials and LPG distributor representatives support coordination and field response.

The government also integrated the toll-free helpline 1967 with the control room. Because of this link, complaints and alerts can reach officials for immediate review.

Officials said the system enables round-the-clock monitoring of LPG movement across Telangana. It also helps prevent diversion and reduce delays in transit.

Furthermore, the LPG command centre allows quicker intervention when districts report supply shortages.

The department designed the facility as a multi-agency control room rather than a simple monitoring desk. Accordingly, supply officials, oil companies, enforcement personnel and distributors now work together in one location.

This arrangement reduces response time when stocks fall, transport slows or delivery chains face disruption in any district.

The government introduced the system to maintain uninterrupted LPG supply to households during pressure on fuel availability.
