Dasoju Sravan demands probe into Moinabad farmhouse drugs case

Hyderabad: Dasoju Sravan, a BRS MLC, demanded a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the Moinabad farmhouse drugs incident linked to the residence of former MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy.

Speaking at a press meet on Sunday, Sravan said authorities must take strict action against anyone found involved, regardless of political affiliation or influence.

At the same time, he accused the ruling Congress government in Telangana of spreading misinformation against K. T. Rama Rao to divert attention from its administrative failures.

Dasoju Sravan challenges leaders to take drug tests

Sravan said reports suggested that several individuals from different political parties attended a gathering at the farmhouse in Moinabad on Saturday night. He added that police claims about the seizure of drugs must be examined through a transparent probe.

He also criticised Congress social media accounts for allegedly linking KTR to the incident without evidence.

According to Sravan, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made baseless allegations against KTR due to political hostility. He argued that linking the BRS leader to the farmhouse episode was illogical.

To prove his point, Sravan issued a challenge to all legislators. He said MLAs and MLCs from every political party should undergo drug tests publicly.

He suggested setting up special counters inside the Assembly premises immediately after the Governor’s address. According to him, lawmakers could stand in line and undergo drug tests to demonstrate transparency.

He also said all BRS public representatives were ready to undergo such tests if questions were raised.

BRS leader criticises government over drug control

Sravan questioned whether the Congress leadership had the moral authority to comment on drug-related issues. In this context, he referred to the seizure of drugs worth ₹12,000 crore in Cherlapally by Mumbai Police.

He asked what the state’s anti-drug “Eagle” teams were doing until officers from another state intervened.

The BRS leader also cited official figures to highlight the growing drug problem. According to him, authorities registered 2,572 drug cases in the state in 2025.

He further said the government admitted in the Legislative Council that narcotics consumption had increased by nearly 30 percent.

Therefore, Sravan accused the government of diverting attention from the drug menace by making political allegations.

Allegations of political targeting

Sravan claimed that Congress leaders targeted KTR because he had been consistently criticising the government.

He also recalled that courts earlier reprimanded minister Konda Surekha over allegations made against the BRS leader.

According to him, BRS would approach the courts again if Congress leaders continued making what he described as reckless claims in connection with the Moinabad farmhouse drugs incident.

He further criticised the state government for failing to implement its election promises. Sravan said farmers, tenant farmers, women, youth and senior citizens had not received the benefits promised during the campaign.

He contrasted this with the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, claiming that the previous government took strong measures to curb the drug menace.

However, Sravan added that BRS would support the government if it took genuine steps to control narcotics in the state.

Former BC Commission member Upendra Chari also attended the press conference.
