KTR leads BRS protest at Gun Park demanding Six Guarantees backing

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao led party MLAs and MLCs in a protest at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park on Monday, demanding statutory backing and funds for the Six Guarantees.

The legislators gathered at the memorial and paid tributes to Telangana martyrs before beginning the demonstration. Soon after, KTR led the protest where party leaders raised slogans against the Congress government over delays in implementing the Six Guarantees.

Protesters held placards calling for legal backing to the Six Guarantees. They raised slogans such as “Provide statutory backing to the Six Guarantees” and “We want Rythu Bandhu, not Rahul Bandhu.”

The BRS leaders also questioned delays in welfare programmes. They pointed to pending pensions, delayed Rythu Bharosa payments and issues in the Mahalakshmi scheme.

KTR later addressed the media and criticised the government over the implementation of the Six Guarantees. He said the Congress promised to implement the guarantees within 100 days of forming the government.

According to him, the party had also assured legal backing for the Six Guarantees in its first Cabinet meeting. However, he said the government had failed to act even after more than two years.

Six Guarantees protest raises welfare and funding concerns

During the protest on the Six Guarantees, KTR said the commitment was also mentioned in the Governor’s address during the first year of the government. Nevertheless, he said the assurance remained unfulfilled despite several Assembly sessions.

He also highlighted delays in Rythu Bandhu payments. Moreover, he said the government had not increased social security pensions as promised.

KTR added that welfare programmes for women, farmers, students, SCs, STs and unemployed youth were still pending. Therefore, he said the BRS would raise these issues during the budget session.

The party would also seek clarity on allocations for the Six Guarantees. In addition, it would question pending fee reimbursement dues and delays in job notifications.

KTR further accused the government of financial mismanagement. He said the state borrowed heavily but failed to implement key promises.

He questioned the utilisation of funds and claimed the previous government had left a progressive state. According to him, the current administration weakened the economy and failed to address public needs.
