Harish Rao demands Siddipet funds restoration of ₹1,070 crore

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao demanded Siddipet funds restoration of ₹1,070 crore and urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to revive stalled development works before visiting the constituency.

In an open letter issued on Tuesday, he accused the Chief Minister of acting with vindictiveness towards Siddipet. He said the government halted several projects that were initiated during the previous BRS administration.

Harish Rao said development works worth over ₹1,070 crore were progressing earlier. However, he alleged that the government cancelled the funds after the change in power.

As a result, he said multiple development activities in Siddipet came to a halt. He added that the issue triggered the demand for Siddipet funds restoration.

Siddipet funds restoration row centres on stalled projects

Harish Rao said the cancellation of sanctioned funds led to a complete halt in development works. He stated that the situation continued for nearly 27 months.

“The current administration had not only neglected the development of Siddipet but had also cancelled the funds sanctioned during the BRS government’s tenure,” he said.

He added that all development works had remained stalled for the past 27 months because of the cancellation of these funds.

According to Harish Rao, the Siddipet funds restoration demand aimed to revive pending infrastructure and welfare projects in the constituency.

He also questioned the government’s claims about ongoing projects in Siddipet. He said the palm oil factory being inaugurated by the Chief Minister had been sanctioned during the previous BRS government.

Harish Rao asked what new initiatives the present government had introduced for Siddipet. He linked this to the demand for restoring funds and restarting development works.

Further, he urged the Chief Minister to restore the cancelled funds before the planned visit to the constituency. He said such a move would demonstrate commitment to Siddipet’s development.

The remarks added to political tensions ahead of the Chief Minister’s scheduled visit to Siddipet.
