HILT policy pushed by CM Revanth Reddy for Hyderabad growth

Hyderabad: HILT policy was pushed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who sought support for Musi river cleansing and key urban infrastructure projects.

Speaking in the Legislative Council during a debate on Hyderabad’s development, the Chief Minister said the government introduced the HILT policy to prevent the city from becoming polluted like Delhi. He added that the policy was part of broader urban reforms.

He said the government would take up Musi river cleaning along with elevated corridor projects across the city. He noted that these corridors would minimise land acquisition needs.

At the same time, Revanth Reddy urged opposition parties to support the initiatives. He called for cooperation to ensure smooth implementation of major development works.

He stressed that Musi river cleaning had become urgent. Therefore, he appealed to all parties to rise above political differences and back the project.

HILT policy linked to Musi project and urban reforms

Referring to past examples, the Chief Minister said the Congress had supported the Sabarmati river cleaning project in Gujarat. However, he questioned the opposition’s resistance to Musi river rejuvenation in Hyderabad.

He said the government was open to constructive suggestions instead of criticism. If required, he offered to form a committee of ministers to gather inputs from opposition leaders.

Revanth Reddy said residents of the erstwhile Nalgonda district had suffered due to pollution in the Musi river. He added that those aware of the issue would support the project.

He also assured relief to families affected by the project. The Chief Minister said displaced residents would receive better housing and support for livelihoods.

In addition, he said the government would ensure that no individual suffers losses due to the project. He urged people not to be influenced by opposition campaigns against the initiative.
