Harish Rao slams Assembly session over lack of direction

Hyderabad: BRS leader Harish Rao criticised the recent Assembly proceedings, stating that the Assembly session direction lacked clarity, accountability and seriousness.

Speaking at the Assembly Media Hall, he said people expected discussions on key public issues and clarity on the six guarantees. However, he alleged that the government delivered only diversion and disappointment.

Assembly session direction questioned over missing debates

Harish Rao said the BRS submitted notices seeking discussions on 19 public issues. However, the government did not take up any of them during the session.

As a result, he claimed the proceedings reflected poor planning and lack of focus. Moreover, he alleged that the government concentrated only on passing the budget and bills without meaningful debate.

He also said the ruling side failed to present any flagship programme with confidence. Therefore, he argued that the session did not meet public expectations.

Concerns over rules and opposition space

Harish Rao stated that Assembly traditions and rules were not followed. In addition, he alleged that the opposition was denied adequate opportunity to raise concerns.

He further claimed that the government avoided direct answers and instead resorted to diversion and personal remarks. Consequently, he said this weakened democratic functioning in the House.

MLA suspension and key issues ignored

The BRS leader alleged that the suspension of party MLAs for two days helped the government pass important bills without opposition presence. According to him, this move reflected poor legislative intent.

He also said the government avoided debates on crucial issues such as Krishna and Godavari water sharing. Therefore, he described the approach as dismissive of public concerns.

Jobs data and Kaleshwaram row raised

Harish Rao said the government admitted to providing only 16,000 jobs. He argued that this figure exposed a gap between promises and delivery.

He also criticised remarks made on the Kaleshwaram project and rejected allegations regarding misuse of funds. Furthermore, he claimed that official records support the project’s performance.

Overall, Harish Rao said the Assembly session failed to address pressing issues. He added that the lack of structured discussion and accountability raised serious concerns about governance.
