Bias against Telangana alleged by MP Vamsi over central allocations

Hyderabad: Congress MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna on Wednesday alleged bias against Telangana by the Centre and said the state was being denied fair allocations and infrastructure support.

The MP said bias against Telangana was evident in funding patterns and project approvals. He made the remarks while inaugurating the Ambedkar Premier League cricket tournament at Singareni Stadium in Godavarikhani.

Addressing the gathering, he claimed the Union Government extended greater financial support to Andhra Pradesh while neglecting Telangana. Moreover, he questioned Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, alleging that he failed to safeguard the state’s interests despite representing it.

Vamsi Krishna cited infrastructure disparities to support his claim. He said Andhra Pradesh has nine airports, whereas Telangana has only one. Therefore, he argued that the gap reflects unequal attention in central decision-making. He added that the issue was already raised during the recent Budget Session of Parliament.

Funding gaps underline bias against Telangana claims

The MP linked bias against Telangana to pending approvals and worker-related demands. He said he would continue efforts to secure clearance for an Employees’ State Insurance hospital in Ramagundam. In addition, he stressed that the proposal required urgent attention from the Centre.

He also demanded an increase in Singareni pensions to Rs.10,000 per month. Furthermore, he sought income tax exemption for Singareni workers, arguing that stronger support is necessary for labour in the coal belt.

Earlier, Vamsi Krishna reviewed the construction of the Kunavaram Bridge in Peddapalli. During the inspection, he directed officials to speed up work to reduce inconvenience to the public.

He reiterated that bias against Telangana must be addressed through equitable funding and infrastructure support. He added that he would continue to raise these concerns at multiple forums until corrective action is taken.
