New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that women’s reservation in legislative bodies is the need of the hour to make Indian democracy more vibrant and participative.
Women’s reservation, he said, would strengthen democratic processes by increasing participation in decision-making. He warned that any delay in implementing such measures would be deeply unfortunate. Moreover, he shared his views through an Op-Ed outlining the importance of the proposal.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister stated, “Reservation for women in legislative bodies is the need of the hour.” He added that the move would make democracy more vibrant and participative. He also cautioned that delaying the measure would undermine its potential benefits.
Women’s reservation highlighted in PM’s Op-Ed vision
The Prime Minister explained that women’s reservation would help create a more inclusive political system. According to him, broader representation would improve governance outcomes and policy decisions.
He emphasised that empowering women in legislative bodies remains essential for long-term democratic strength. In addition, he said inclusive participation ensures balanced development and better accountability.
The Prime Minister also shared the message in Hindi, reiterating the urgency of implementing the policy. He underlined that the proposal reflects a broader vision of participative governance.
He stated that strengthening democracy requires continuous reforms. Therefore, he urged timely action to ensure that women’s representation improves without delay.
