Hyderabad: The VAHAN portal Telangana rollout has streamlined vehicle registration services, with the Transport Department introducing the system for non-transport temporary registrations from March 23, 2026.
The initiative marks a major step in the state’s digital governance efforts. Officials conducted extensive training sessions for nearly 1,000 automobile dealers through both physical and online modes. As a result, dealers can now process temporary registrations more efficiently.
VAHAN portal Telangana improves service delivery
Authorities completed 346 financial integrations and authorised 671 dealers under the system. Consequently, the platform now supports decentralised and seamless service delivery across the state.
Officials also implemented the system in phases using module-based upgrades. This approach has improved accuracy, reduced errors and strengthened overall reliability.
So far, the department has generated around 33,000 temporary registration certificates. These figures reflect the growing adoption of the new digital system.
Permanent registration rollout begins soon
Meanwhile, the Transport Department will begin issuing permanent registration certificates from April 11. This next phase will further enhance convenience for vehicle owners.
In addition, citizens can download registration certificates and driving licences through the mParivahan app. The department plans to expand services on the platform in a phased manner.
Digital push enhances transparency and efficiency
Officials said the system significantly reduces processing time and improves transparency. Moreover, it minimises manual intervention and ensures faster approvals.
They added that the initiative creates a more user-friendly experience for citizens while strengthening administrative efficiency.
Overall, the VAHAN portal Telangana initiative reflects the state’s focus on technology-driven governance and improved public service delivery.
