Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department issued a Telangana heatwave alert, placing the state under an orange warning and cautioning residents about severe conditions until April 16.
The weather agency forecast maximum temperatures between 41°C and 44°C in Hyderabad by April 16. It also extended the alert to multiple districts from April 12 to April 16.
Meanwhile, forecasts from the Telangana State Development Planning Society and IMD indicated a further rise in temperatures. Over the next three days, maximum temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal levels.
Telangana heatwave alert signals rising temperatures
Recent temperature readings highlight the upward trend across districts. Chinna Thandrapadu in Jogulamba Gadwal district recorded the highest temperature at 41.8°C.
In nearby regions, the Maheswaram industrial area in Rangareddy district registered 41.2°C, while the Medchal industrial zone in Medchal-Malkajgiri district recorded 40.1°C. Within Hyderabad, Nehru Nagar Ward Office reported a maximum of 39.5°C.
Other districts also experienced intense heat. Gubbagurthy in Khammam district and Ghanpur in Nalgonda district registered 41.7°C each, while Talamadugu in Adilabad district recorded 41.6°C.
Officials said prevailing conditions indicate continued heatwave activity across Telangana over the coming days. They advised people to take precautions, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and stay hydrated.
